Making The Most Of Your Technology Investment

Are you getting a solid return on you technology purchases? Do you long to do more, but can't find the time?

Many people buy technology with the best intentions but never learn how to maximize its potential. Experts say little can make the difference between becoming a tech-savvy pro and being a frustrated half-user.

Over the past 7 years, we supplied churches and business with the latest in presentation equipment, and training how to use them. Most of our clients were outfitted with a Laptop, projector, speaker system, digital camera and software.

With a year under their belts, Dana Frint with Appraisal Services, Ron Mapes with Eastmont Church and Art Hatch with the Redmond Fire Department agreed to share with us their experiences with the technology they purchased.

They all said technology pays off—but only if you successfully identify the right tools and commit to continuous learning. Their experiences and the advice of our consultants can help you make the most of your technology investments.

Take it from Tony Sprando, president of Audio Visual Presentations, Inc.: One of the worst mistakes to make when trying to get a leg up on technology is feeling intimidated. Most people let perceived complexity scare them so much that they hesitate to do things that make their lives easier and more efficient. The task is manageable if you take one step at a time. Spend 15 minutes a day on any hardware and within 30 days you'll have it down. Because progress isn't always visible, you may feel your efforts are being wasted, but you can't stop before you see the fruits of your labor. Once you commit the time and money to incorporate technology into your business, use it. If you use PowerPoint to present your product, use it on your website, at the elder board meeting—everywhere you can. It's a little thing that can make a big difference.
